Writing your thesis in latex allows you to use the power of typesetting engine and especially the reference management of bibtex.

As said on the latex website: "LaTeX is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents but it can be used for almost any form of publishing."

This tutorial suggests a few editors, the one I am using is missing however. I highly recommend using TexShop if you are working on a mac.


Here is a Thesis Template which can be used with latex to write your thesis. It should conform to the requirements of the pedel office for VU thesi.

A minimal latex document using this template is shown below. Most options for this template are described in the VUThesis.cls file.
