Abstract

The purpose of defect management is to minimize defect's impact on the software quality. There are several studies about defect management providing different methods and processes on how to identify, analyze and prevent defects. Most methods are developed to improve defect handling and to be used by software developers and testers. The goal of this study is to develop a meta model to support the use of defect information by different stakeholders. Through literature review of previous defect management problems, all the relevant information for managing defects detected at any phase of various software development process by different stakeholders will be modeled into a meta model. The meta model aims to provide an overview of defects from all phases of software development, and initiate a communication channel between different stakeholders to contribute to a collaborative and proactive software defect management across the stakeholders in a software development project.
