Description

Many diseases occur so infrequently that family doctors do not have sufficient knowledge to recognise them. There are thousands of such "rare diseases. You will build a system that will alert family doctors to the possibility of such a rare disease, given the particular symptoms of a patient. In a first step, you will take existing "manifestation patterns" for a number of rare diseases, and annotate them with concepts from medical ontologies so that these concepts can be recognised in a patient record. In a second phase, you will attempt to provide a full formalisation and implementation of such manifestation patterns.
