Background: Functional testing is quality assurance process and a type of black box testing bases its test cases on the specifications of the software component under test. Functional testing ensures that the requirements are properly satisfied by the application. However, according to a systematic review there is a lack of evidence that provides recommendations on the suitability of functional testing techniques. In this master project, existing manual and automation functional software testing that are used in practice will be collected and analyzed based an online questionnaire survey. In addition, how practitioners think about the advantages and disadvantages of manual and automated functional testing and how they plan to improve will be identified. Based on the outcomes of the survey ,a selection model of functional testing will be built.
