Guidebooks are widely used by tourists to find appropriate things to do in an unknown city. The books include information collected by editors and new versions are published on regular basis to keep the provided information up to date. But would it not be better to use information that is always up to date and tailored to a person’s interests?
Nowadays a lot of data relevant to travel is published on the Internet and Semantic Web techniques can help us to effectively combine it. The retrieved data can also be used for reasoning processes, extending the function of only providing information about points of interest. Our goal is to create an application which generates an interesting route through a city considering user preferences, using a “traveling salesman problem with time windows” algorithm. For this purpose we will use the LarKC platform (http://www.larkc.eu).
