Problem: Many datasets of metadata about scientific publications and citations exist (WoS, Elsevier, Microsoft, APS, PubMed, CiteSeer), each of which has different coverage. Studies normally just use one of these datasets, as there is no easy way to combine all these datasets for studying the overall structure of the scientific publication network.

Solution: We can create a unified model with corresponding mappings that would make it easy to combine different (or all) of these datasets.

Method: We can build upon existing Linked Data principles and ontologies to provide such a unifying framework and model. We can then evaluate the power of this framework, as well as compare the structure and content of the individual datasets in a principled and clean fashion.
