Description
In this project, the students will work to expand the (semi) automatic copyright calculation and checking tools for Europeana-indexed cultural heritage objects.
Such a tool illustrates how properly curated metadata together with legal research can help data providers check the copyright status of the objects in their collection. The copyright status can be based on data about the publication date of works, death dates of creators, and jurisdiction is gathered from multiple sources (e.g. Europeana API, DBPedia, etc.); algorithms will then be applied to determine the copyright status of the works in a given jurisdictions.

The project will be done in cooperation with Kennisland [1] and/or Europeana [2].
