Abstract

The aim of this Master Project is to research if it is possible to build a "cheap" motion capture system with "off-the-shelf" products (like the Microsoft Kinect) which can then be applied to sports. Either to aid the user in executing the exercises correctly or in a competition context where it monitors users to keep track of the time(s) and determine the winner. By combining these two aspects a serious game can be developed to motivate the user to execute the exercises correctly, which in turn can help prevent sports related injuries.

If financially possible, a prototype will be build and applied to CrossFit exercises. The reason for this is because a large portion of the exercises are/can be done in one spot which makes a camera setup easier.
