Abstract
The safety and effectiveness of operational firefighters depends on their information supply. In this paper we examine the current situation through interviews and attempt to improve it by collecting more data and developing a prototype, which uses the semantic web. We found two currently unused sources of information that can potentially make work for operational firefighters safer. The attempt to use semantic web technology to collect data was successful, but due to insufficient quality of service from the data providers, this did not provide improved efficiency.
