Abstract
The Dutch nationwide electronic health record (EHR) is a centralized system designed by a Dutch IT institute called Nictiz in commission of the Dutch Ministry of Health. The idea behind generating this system is reducing treatment errors, optimizing healthcare services and consequently increasing the quality of healthcare system. For this purpose, the medical history of patients needs to be accessible by healthcare professionals for new prescription to avoid medication conflicts, possible allergies, preventing patients to undergo unnecessary x-rays etc. On the other hand, this project needs to be extended in a nationwide scale since Dutch people travel a lot. This thesis aims to analyze the changes to be applied on Dutch nationwide E.H.R. system in order to manage the restrictions are imposed to this system.
