Abstract

SOA has become a popular buzzword in the IT industry the last couple of years. By sequestering core business functions into independent services, a Service Oriented Architecture can deliver agility to businesses. The reuse of software is at the heart of SOA. Many companies have been successful with the Service Oriented Architecture approach. Others are struggling to realize SOA’s promised benefits.

Cloud computing can be described as a way of computing whereby resources, software and data are delivered as a service over the Internet. According to Gartner it is one of the top ten strategic technologies for 2011. Many companies are currently considering a (partial) move to the cloud. Cloud computing is often seen as a deployment architecture for SOA.

This master project focuses on indentification of the different SOA types and finding the best matching cloud models.
