Abstract
This project investigates the use of disc jockey (DJs) mixing boards as input device for data visualization performances. A prototype system will be presented. We test the assumption that mixing boards can be used to create real-time data mixing performances. Followed by a user study to evaluate how the input device is being used by various user groups with differing amounts of experience with DJ decks or other physical interfaces. The gathered insights will be feeded back into the design of the prototype system.
