Ontologies are specification of shared knowledge, often written up in formal, i.e. logical, languagess, the most prominent of which being OWL. Those ontologies can be huge (e.g. in the medical domain), and are often created by groups of experts, which makes modelling difficult. A frequent question is "what is the difference between two concepts", and we developped an approach for anwering this question based on the logical notion of interpolation. This project is about implementing those ideas efficiently, and evaluating them empirically on large existing ontologies. It requires an interest in logic, and thorough programming skills.
