Unfortunately, through adversity the master project switched topic, but maintained the same supervisor. The 'old' second reader is not in service of the VU anymore. Therefore, the second reader has been adjusted to Natalia Silvis.
The main topic of this master thesis is a search for guidelines that save project costs while assuring high software quality. We address the economics of software quality assurance (SQA) techniques, we address the benefits of conducting static tests (review, inspections and walkthroughs), we identify activities that are carried out to fix a defect and we research the costs of fixing a defect. To highlight the importance of these guidelines we also identify the (in)direct costs that follow upon a field defect report.
