Abstract
How can the “web” be used to boost sales of Agricultural produce from rural Ghana to the rest of the World?
Various technologies and studies are being used to aid agricultural development in Africa. This is because Africa has the greatest amount of arable land left fallow but very low current levels of trade in food. Improving the methods and output of agricultural produce in rural Africa will greatly aid the continent and the world in time to come.
A problem however remains with the dissemination of the produce. The farmers need to have the capacity to make wealth from the various advancement, technologies and organizational structures being thrown their way, else the whole process losses meaning and/or the farmers lose interest in these modern advancements. This project will look at the underlining problems behind this into detail.
The challenge is to develop an ICT solution that will deliver directly to the rural farmer and/or farmer groups the ability to market their goods to an international audience. This will be done keeping in mind the wants/needs of these farmers concerning these technologies, the high illiteracy rates within the rural communities and the barrier of language.
