Description

The complexity of capturing, human movement and representing dance choreography has restricted the development of supporting tools in the field of expressive movement up until now. The lack of a good representation of dance movement and choreography has prohibited a significant role for the computer in the creative process. To enable machines to handle the intended meaning of the information on all its semantic layers in order to best serve the user’s needs, a new generation of tools is needed for semantically meaningful interpretation and application of human movement.

Within the project, the student researcher(s) will look at mapping existing languages of movement to semantic web standards and investigate new opportuinities for reasoning about choreographies, filling this knowledge gap and providing new insights into the workings of human movement-based communication.
